Description
Gand, Sarafian-Van Snick, 1968
Loose as issued in white folder with black lettering, 35 x 25 cm, 31 velin d’arches leaves, etchings measuring 16 x 12.5 cm.
Extremely rare publication published in an edition of only 15 numbered copies, signed by the writer and the artist, this being N° III. This book comes with 12 original etchings by Philippe Van Snick, each of them numbered 3/15 and signed and dated 1968 by Van Snick.
Although published together, van Snick describes these projects as parallel. Van Snick printed the etchings himself and although not credited in the publication, the printing was sponsored by Anton Herbert (who had engagements in the visual arts way before Herbert foundation was established and the collection was even started).
Out of the fifteen copies, one copy held at the (KBR) Royal Library of Belgium (which also lists a price of 2.500 BEF) and another at the (KMSKA) Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen. Another copy at The Philippe Van Snick Estate.
Ref. and an interesting interview regardless: Portret van de kunstenaar als jongeman Interview met Philippe Van Snick.
A few minor brown spots, never affecting plates, throughout and some minor wear to the folder.
