Description
Paris, Editions Albert Morancé, 1938
Two vol. held in a cloth-backed pictorial portfolio with ribbon ties, 28 x 23 cm, 28 pages + 40 plates (of which 5 are colour pochoirs and another 4 colour lithographs. Text in French.
A beautiful and scarce publication on Le Corbusier’s work as an architect-painter. The softcover Etudes book has an introduction by Jean Badovici and an essay on painting by Le Corbusier illustrated with drawings, 4 of them full-page. The second Planches part has 40 plates, 5 of them are pochoirs and 4 of them original lithographs. The softcover book is fine with slight spotting on top of the first pages.
The plates are fine with a couple of them showing slight spotting on top of them, not really affecting the plates. The folder shows wear at the ends and the spine is almost completely detached, just hanging on at the bottom. Ready for professional restaurateur. The volume etudes also almost detaching from the spine.
This used to be a bit nicer of a copy, unfortunately while packing up at a book fair, a student grabbed it after closing hours, resulting in the spine breaking further down the line.
Please inquire for additional photographs or if you want to see it in the flesh.
