Description
No place, Knaapjens’ kritiese kinderbibliotheek, no date (likely 60s)
Stapled, 14 x 11 cm, 51 pages. Dutch. Black and white illustrations.
Appropriation of a 1905 children’s story written by Hendrik Nicolaas de Fremery (Kabouter-boek, C.A.J. van Dishoeck, 1905). Published by the Amsterdam Kabouters, an offspring from the Provo movement. Under the Knaapjens’ Kritiese Kinderbibliotheek imprint, but most likely the only volume published and Prof. Dr. Rudolf/Johannus A. Knaapjens an alias. Two pages of introductory text by Knaapjes and of course the story itself: kabouters waking up at night to finish the work of humans without taking credit. Rare, with just one copy in the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, Den Haag.
A good copy, small crease and wrapper a bit browned.
